Bridging the Disease Awareness and Access to Care Gaps in Dermatology

Skin disorders are a significant concern for public health across the world and are ranked as the fourth leading cause of non-fatal disease across all age categories and cultures. The UAE is not an exception to this trend, as research suggests a rise in dermatological disorders such as atopic dermatitis (AD), alopecia areata (AA), and Vitiligo. Despite their impact on patients' quality of life (QoL), skin disorders are not given much priority by payers and regulators due to low perceived prevalence, disease burden, and understanding of their impact on QoL. With new advances in dermatology, there is a compelling need to understand and reflect on dermatology in the country.

Our whitepaper outlines key initiatives aimed at increasing awareness among stakeholders, identifying unmet needs in treatment pathways, and addressing access barriers to innovative treatments for skin diseases in the UAE.
