Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a leading cause of mortality, with nearly 30 million individuals affected by CVD in Southeast Asia (SEA). Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Diseases (ASCVD) in particular, constitute a significant burden in the region, with diseases like stroke, ischemic heart diseases ranking as top causes of death and disability in the region.
The need for collective action has never been more urgent. This whitepaper, prepared in collaboration with Novartis and EU-ASEAN Business Council, delves into the current state of disease in SEA, on-going efforts and unique challenges in ASCVD management and proposes potential actionable solutions to address this impending health crisis.
