New Publication: Advancing COA Linguistic Validation with Responsible AI
Analysis and Good Practice Recommendations
Feb 25, 2026

AI is revolutionising the translation and healthcare sectors, yet there is a lack of clear, actionable guidance on responsible AI implementation in Clinical Outcome Assessment (COA) linguistic validation and eCOA migration.

IQVIA’s Shawn McKown is a lead author of the latest publication by members of the ISOQOL Translation and Cultural Adaptation Special Interest Group (TCASIG), titled “Use of AI within COA Linguistic Validation and eCOA Migration Processes: Analysis and Good Practice Recommendations.” This important work has recently been published in the Journal of Reported‑Reported Outcomes (JPRO).

Key elements of the article include:

  • A detailed review of each linguistic validation process step through the lens of potential AI enablement
  • Specific AI recommendations for each process step, from “not recommended” to “highly recommended”
  • Analysis of the degree to which AI enablement aligns with the spirit and intent of existing linguistic validation guidelines
  • Detailed data and analysis of perceived AI capabilities through key stakeholder lenses
  • Discussion of AI’s potential effect on protection of intellectual property for COA copyright holders

Discover the publication on the JPRO website.
