Held from 21-23 August 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India Health 2026 brought together providers, MedTech companies, diagnostics players, digital health innovators, manufacturers and distributors. For the IQVIA MedTech India team, the event reinforced a clear message: growth will depend less on technology adoption alone and more on whether solutions improve access, quality, clinician workflows and resilience in real-world care settings.


AI as an Enabler of Better Care

AI was a major theme across hospital operations, diagnostics, imaging, pathology, cardiology and digital health. Speakers emphasized its role in improving workflow efficiency, supporting automation and helping clinicians draw insight from historical clinical data. For MedTech companies, the priority is to show practical clinical utility, workflow fit and measurable value, not simply position AI as an add-on.

Dr. Ruchika Goel, Associate Director, Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine at Medanta Gurugram, emphasized that advanced technology creates value only when it improves outcomes for patients and clinicians. Instead of increasing testing volumes, the priority should be enabling personalized decision-making through the right test in the right clinical context.

AI-enabled diagnostics were discussed with cautious optimism. Dr. Anand Kumar Pandey, Senior Director-Interventional Cardiology & Head of Heart Failure Program at Max Super Specialty, Vaishali, highlighted advancements transforming the field of cardiology. He noted that cardiovascular care has evolved beyond traditional angiography, with technologies such as IVUS and FFR now playing a key role in diagnosis and treatment decisions. He further highlighted the potential of AI in Cardiology, where learnings from historical patient data can support more accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment approaches. He also noted that algorithms built largely on Western datasets may be less applicable in Indian clinical settings. For MedTech innovators, this underscores the need for India-relevant datasets, robust validation, data security and standardized implementation processes.

Access, Affordability and Quality Must Shape MedTech Adoption

MedTech innovation must translate into better access, affordability and outcomes. Cdr. Navneet Bali, Executive Director and Group CEO, Clearmedi Healthcare discussed about multispecialty hospital expansion, illustrating the complexity of serving less accessible regions such as Katra, Jammu, where patients previously had to travel one to two hours to reach care. Specialist availability also remains concentrated in larger cities. This reinforces the need for solutions that are deployable beyond metros, easy to maintain and supported by training, service and adoption models suited to tier 2/3 markets.

The same access lens appeared in diagnostics. Dr. Goel noted India’s expanding networks of hospital-integrated and rural labs, while pointing to weak rural-city-national linkages. For molecular diagnostics and advanced testing platforms, the opportunity lies in scalable models, such as hub-and-spoke networks, automation, remote enablement and partnerships, that can extend capability beyond large urban centres.

Quality was presented as equally important. Dr. Sheenu Jhawar, Promoter & Director, Apex Hospitals emphasized the importance of value frameworks, ethical behaviour and patient satisfaction aligned with the broader message that trust is built through consistent care experiences. In diagnostics, this includes getting operational basics right: sample collection, preservation, transport, cold-chain maintenance, quality checks, interoperability and common standard operating procedures. For MedTech manufacturers and solution providers, real-world impact depends on this full ecosystem, not device performance alone.


Local Manufacturing and Supply-Chain Resilience Are MedTech Priorities

Supply-chain discussions highlighted a shift from heavy dependence on China toward China+1 and China+X models, driven by geopolitical risk, disruption, component availability and cost optimization. For medical device companies, resilience is becoming a competitive advantage where product availability, service continuity and cost stability directly affect hospitals and patients.

The exhibition floor showed that localization is layered. Chinese players such as Getein Biotech remain globally embedded through distributor networks, while Indian MedTech companies are building capabilities across components, implants, capital equipment, diagnostics, AI-enabled screening, surgical training technology and healthcare software. The direction is less “China out, India in” and more diversified sourcing, stronger domestic manufacturing and ecosystem partnerships across the value chain.

Overall, India Health 2026 highlighted a MedTech ecosystem in transition. The strongest opportunities sit at the intersection of AI-enabled diagnostics, connected care, access expansion and supply-chain resilience. The key takeaway for MedTech leaders: innovation will matter most when it is practical, locally relevant, affordable and scalable across India.
