This paper explores the barriers to cancer care within the patient journey in Africa by detailing an in-depth country level assessment and outlining actions that the global health community can take to improve affordable and sustainable access. To address the greatest burden of disease, the assessment focuses on the two most commonly diagnosed cancer types, cervical and breast, and focuses on countries with the highest incidence and mortality rates as measured by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and the Global Cancer Observatory.
