WHITE PAPER
National Immunization Programme (NIP) Evolution in Southeast Asia
Jul 24, 2023

Vaccine-preventable diseases and emerging threats, like the COVID-19 pandemic, have highlighted the need for vaccination but also its challenges. National Immunization Programme (NIP) is a governmental schedule that aims to provide selected vaccinations free of cost to the country’s population.

Southeast Asia is a diverse region where healthcare systems continually adapt to new challenges and opportunities presented by their unique demographics, geographies, cultures, and political environments. Therefore, vaccine’s inclusion in National Immunization Programmes across SEA countries requires a strategic and pragmatic approach.

This white paper aims to provide insights into the current state of NIP in SEA, and also identify gaps and key success factors to effectively tackle the challenges for vaccine introduction in NIP to enhance SEA immunization programmes.
