IQVIA launches a service to help pharmacies adapt to the new data protection regulation

May 21, 2018 – Regarding to the implementation of the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on May 25, IQVIA, has launched Excellence Data, a service to facilitate its adaptation to pharmacies. Excellence Data it’s managed by lawyers specialized in pharmaceutical legislation and protection of personal data. This service, which will have the collaboration of Farmacia y Derecho, a company specializing in legal advice for pharmacies, will offer training and legal advice on data protection in accordance with the European Regulation.

The protection of personal data is an issue that concerns both companies and users, and is especially sensitive in the field of health due to the nature of the data handled. Pharmacies will have to adapt their systems and procedures before May 25, 2018. "It is important for the pharmacy not to wait until the last moment and make sure that the data it handles are protected under the strictest standards", says Daniel Torregrosa, Pharmacy Relationships Manager of IQVIA Spain.

In line with the philosophy of recent years, IQVIA continues to bet on internal excellence and its collaborating pharmacies. For this, it will make available to pharmacies that request it a computer platform for the maintenance of compliance documents in the cloud, contracts with third parties and legal documents for employees, as well as legal disclaimers of, among others, emails and invoices. In addition, pharmacies that opt for the Excellence Data service, will obtain three hours of online legal advice on matters related to pharmacy such as transfers, secondments, penalties, labor, e-commerce, social networks and brand, among other matters.

The RGPD is the new privacy code that replaces the Organic Law on Data Protection (LOPD) and aims to uniformly regulate the processing of data and strengthen the protection of personal data.
