LEARN MOREWhen the 21st Century Cures Act and the final rule mandating regulatory compliance for healthcare information exchange were released on March 9, 2020, the Office of National Coordinator of Healthcare Information Technology (ONC) said certain interoperability changes must be implemented within the next six-to-36 months. Due to COVID-19, the Department of Health and Human Services announced on April 21, 2020, that ONC and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services intend to exercise discretionary enforcement for a three-to-six-month period.
